Under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Azmi Mahafzah, the winners of the 2024 Graduation Projects Competition for Syndicate Projects, Industrial Sector Projects, and Traffic Projects were announced

The Jordan Engineers Association announced the names of the winners of the 2024 Graduation Projects Competition for Syndicate Projects, Industrial Sector Projects, and Traffic Projects. The announcement took place under the patronage of Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, in the presence of the Deputy President of the Engineers Association, Engineer Fawzi Masad, the representative of the Mayor of Amman, Executive Director of Transport and Infrastructure Projects, Engineer Riyad Al-Kharabsheh, the representative of the President of the Amman Chamber of Industry, Engineer Fadl Al-Labadi, and the chairman and members of the award committee.
Minister Mahafzah stated that the competition is one of the most beautiful and sophisticated forms of integration and cooperation between official Jordanian state institutions—represented by ministries and public institutions—universities and colleges, and civil society organizations represented by the Jordan Engineers Association. He pointed out that this integration is what we strive for and aim to achieve, as it is the only path to the desired development.
Mahafzah noted that the award aims to encourage engineering students to excel and raise the level of competition among creative and innovative ideas for graduation projects, and to present engineering solutions that contribute to the development of our society. He explained that Jordanian higher education institutions are centers of expertise, as they host distinguished faculty members in various programs and specializations, capable of equipping their students with practical skills that enable them to enter local, regional, and international labor markets.
He added that Jordanian universities are home to many outstanding students who possess skills and abilities that only need refinement through graduation projects that are applicable in real life. These projects offer solutions that contribute to the development of human societies. He said the university graduation project is a research process undertaken by students at the end of their academic journey to obtain a university degree—especially a bachelor's degree—and they are required to carry out a project that reflects their understanding and application of the concepts and skills they acquired during their university studies in various specializations.
For his part, Deputy President of the Engineers Association, Engineer Fawzi Masad, said that the Engineers Association today plays a national role in development and a regional role in relief and humanitarian aid. This would not have been possible without the reputation and competence of Jordanian engineers, who are recognized both regionally and internationally. He pointed out that this role is sustained and continued through the abilities, efforts, and determination of engineers to achieve excellence.
Engineer Masad added that today we stand before a group of our young male and female engineers who decided that their graduation project would not merely be an academic requirement for obtaining a certificate, but rather a launchpad for innovation and a means to express their vision for Jordan’s scientific, industrial, and technological future. He emphasized that this is the essence of the annual competitions held by the syndicate, which focus on making the graduation project a true birth moment of an entrepreneurial engineer—not just an employee, but a changemaker and a partner in sustainable national development.
He pointed out that this competition is not just an event, but a comprehensive national vision based on integration among the development triangle: universities, the syndicate, and productive and service-oriented state institutions. Therefore, the networking we aim for is not merely an organizational choice, but a national duty aimed at producing a generation of engineers capable of being pioneers in their communities—not merely job seekers, but job creators—through genuine entrepreneurship based on innovation, technology, and sustainability.
Executive Director of Transport and Infrastructure Projects, Engineer Riyad Al-Kharabsheh, presented an overview of the projects undertaken by the Greater Amman Municipality, especially regarding transport and traffic, as they are key challenges in the capital Amman. He indicated that cooperation with the Engineers Association in this field came at the right time, emphasizing the need for engineers to build knowledge and practices by engaging with real-life examples.
Director of the Industrial Development Department at the Amman Chamber of Industry, Engineer Fadl Al-Labadi, stated that the industrial sector is proud of its contribution of a quarter of the gross domestic product through more than 16,000 industrial establishments whose exports exceeded 8 billion Jordanian dinars last year. He explained that the Jordanian engineer is a key and active element in building and developing the industrial production system in Jordan, and that the partnership between the association and the chamber of industry is a fruitful one that covers various fields of engineering and industrial development.
Chairman of the Award Committee, Dr. Mohammad Ghaith, said that forming the award committee was part of encouraging universities to implement graduation projects in various engineering disciplines that align with and offer solutions to engineering problems in the service of the local community, and to promote creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship. He pointed out that more than 58 engineering projects were submitted for the award, including 19 projects in electrical engineering, 10 in mechanical engineering, 10 in civil engineering, and 17 in chemical engineering. Six of these projects were implemented in cooperation with the industrial sector, and four projects provided practical solutions in traffic engineering.
He added that the submitted projects stood out for addressing topics and engineering problems considered priorities in Jordan, including energy, water, environment, traffic, communications, technology, artificial intelligence, and others.
At the end of the ceremony, the winners of the 2024 Graduation Projects Competition for Syndicate Projects, Industrial Sector Projects, and Traffic Projects were honored.
