Jordan and the United Arab Emirates signed today, Wednesday, in Abu Dhabi, the Executive Program for Cooperation in Higher Education and Scientific Research. The Jordanian side was represented by the Minister of Education and Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, while the Emirati side was represented by Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratization/Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Under this executive program, the two parties will exchange information in academic fields and educational systems related to the equivalency of university and higher education degrees for mutual recognition purposes, in accordance with the regulations in force in both countries. The parties will also exchange the regulations in place for evaluating academic programs and institutional accreditation in both countries, among other various academic fields.
Additionally, the two parties will exchange a number of seats and scholarships for undergraduate programs in accordance with the capacities and regulations in force in both countries, as stipulated in the program's provisions. They will also promote initiatives to encourage students to apply for studies in both countries and facilitate the opening of branches of Jordanian and Emirati higher education institutions in each other's countries. Furthermore, the program encourages direct cooperation between higher education institutions in both countries in all academic fields and the development of joint scientific research.
The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Mamoun Al-Dabae, Secretary General of the Ministry, representing the Jordanian side. The Emirati side was represented by Dr. Mohammad Al-Mulla, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Mr. Saif Al Mazrouei, Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research/Director of International Educational Cooperation; and Ms. Israa Al Ansari, Head of Strategic and Knowledge Partnerships in the Department of International Cooperation and Knowledge Partnerships.
