Secretary-General of Higher Education Al-Dabie Meets with the President of Nakhchivan State University in the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Presence of the Azerbaijani Ambassador in Amman

The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Mamoun Al- Dabie, met on Thursday at the Ministry’s headquarters with His Excellency Mr. Elbrus Isaev, President of Nakhchivan State University in the Republic of Azerbaijan. The meeting was attended by His Excellency the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Amman, Mr. Eldar Salimov, as well as a number of officials from the university and the Azerbaijani embassy in Amman.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Al- Dabie welcomed the Azerbaijani delegation, emphasizing the depth of the relations between the two sides and highlighting the importance of signing an agreement to regulate and develop relations between Jordan and Azerbaijan in the field of higher education, student and faculty exchange, and scientific research. Al- Dabie also reviewed the status of the Jordanian higher education sector and its development, particularly in technical and vocational education, the use of artificial intelligence within university campuses, and the number of international (non-Jordanian) students studying at Jordanian higher education institutions. He emphasized that one of the main factors attracting students to study in Jordan is the excellence of its graduates, who have proven their competence in various fields. Al- Dabie also explained the process through which international students can obtain admission to one of the Jordanian public universities via the unified electronic system for international student admission, which saves students significant effort, time, and money. Additionally, he discussed the decisions of the boards of trustees of Jordanian public universities to treat Muslim students from non-Arabic-speaking countries who wish to study Arabic language or Islamic Sharia as Jordanian students in terms of tuition fees. He also reviewed the launch of a new electronic platform by the ministry titled “Tamayuz – You Are Jordan’s Ambassadors,” and its objectives.

In turn, both the visiting university president and the Azerbaijani ambassador in Amman thanked the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for the warm reception and generous hospitality. They affirmed the deep relations between the two sides and expressed their interest in developing these relations, especially in the fields of higher education and scientific research, including hosting Jordanian professors in various disciplines to teach at Azerbaijani universities. They also praised Jordan’s excellence in teaching Classical Arabic and moderate Islamic Sharia without extremism.

The meeting was also attended by Mr. Shadi Masa’dah, Director of the Higher Education Council Secretariat; Mr. Ibrahim Al-Amoush, Director of the Directorate of Scholarships; Dr. Sajeda Al-Naddaf, Director of the International Students Affairs Unit; Dr. Aseel Al-Muhaisen, Director of the Directorate of Recognition and Equivalency of Non-Jordanian Certificates; and Mr. Muhannad Al-Khatib, Media Advisor to His Excellency the Minister and Director of the Unified Admission Coordination Unit
