The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Azmi Mahazah, met with the presidents of public Jordanian universities in the Higher Education Council Hall.

During the meeting, they discussed and reviewed the digitization processes taking place in various government services and the necessity of reflecting this in the services provided by universities to their students. 

This would be achieved through cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, activating a clear mechanism to integrate and link the digital identity with university services, and utilizing and adopting digital documents and certificates to provide services aligned with the Economic Modernization Vision in the field of digital transformation. 

The meeting also covered the implementation plan for establishing, equipping, and maintaining sectoral response teams in line with the national execution plan for addressing cyber risks and threats, as prepared by the National Cybersecurity Center and the National Center for Security and Crisis Management. 

A comprehensive analytical study will be conducted to identify the most common cyber threats in the Jordanian education sector and determine its specific needs in terms of systems, programs, analytical tools, and human resources. 

The goal is to establish a sectoral cybersecurity operations center for the education sector, which could be housed within one of Jordan’s higher education institutions to serve as the main liaison with the National Cybersecurity Center. 

The meeting was attended by Samira Al-Zaabi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Innovation for Administrative and Financial Affairs; Professor Dr. Ahmad Al-Hiyasat, Chairman of the National Cybersecurity Council; Dr. Saleh Al-Shraieh, Executive Director of the Jordanian Universities Network Company; Engineer Rami Al-Rawashdeh, Director of the Digital Transformation Directorate at the Ministry of Digital Economy and Innovation; and Engineer Moneeb Tashman, Director of the Queen Rania Al-Abdullah Center for Educational Technology and Information. Also in attendance from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research were Shadi Musaadah, Director of the Secretariat of the Higher Education Council; Hossam Lotfi, Director of the Information Technology and Digital Transformation Directorate; Muhannad Al-Khatib, Media Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Director of the Unified Admission Coordination Unit; and Engineer Mohammad Al-Fawaris, Head of the Networks and Technical Support Department.
